When scans are most beneficial for athletes, and why you should use them.

Pre-Season Baseline Testing

Set your body’s benchmark before the season begins. Scans establish your “normal” so we can spot abnormal changes fast.
Studies show up to 70% fewer injuries and 90% fewer days missed when scans are integrated into pre-season training.

Ongoing Training & Load Monitoring

Heavy training creates hidden stress. Weekly or bi-weekly scans reveal early fatigue or hotspots so you can adjust before it becomes a problem.
One professional soccer club reduced muscle injuries from 35 down to 9 in a single season using thermal monitoring.

Early Injury Detection

Thermal scans reveal micro-imbalances invisible to MRI, X-ray, or ultrasound. Any asymmetry greater than 0.3°C signals stress, inflammation, or overload. Catching these red flags early means faster intervention and less downtime.

Return-to-Play Rehab

Don’t risk re-injury by guessing. Our scans track inflammation and tissue recovery during rehab, giving you data-driven clearance for a safe return. Proven effective across ACL tears, ankle sprains, hamstring injuries, and more.

Peak Performance Optimization

Beyond injury prevention, scans help fine-tune recovery and training loads, so you arrive at game day in optimal condition.

Whether you’re a professional athlete, semi-pro, or dedicated weekend warrior, our athlete injury prevention scans at the Perth clinic in Gosnells, as well as regional WA, will help you train smarter, recover faster, and perform at your peak.

What To Expect

When you arrive for your appointment, please have a seat and wait for Kate to escort you to the imaging room.

โ€‹

In the imaging room, you will receive guidance on how to acclimate.

This includes getting undressed, underwear remains on at all times (briefs or g-strings are preferred) and for this scan for women, you CAN leave a sports crop on, however this can slightly skew the accuracy for back temperatures where straps are.

A disposable headband will be provided to ensure hair is away from the neck and face. However, please bring your own hair ties and clips to hold the bulk of your hair up.

โ€‹

While undressing and acclimating, Kate will review your intake forms.

This ensures the information is accurate and checks if anything is missing or can ask for further information. This also gives you the chance to add anything you may have remembered after submitting your forms.

โ€‹

Once your body has sufficiently cooled down, the imaging can begin. This usually takes 15 minutes.

Imaging involves moving in different positions to ensure all areas and angles are imaged correctly.

If you have significant mobility difficulties, please email us to discuss your needs. This may mean bringing a support person to your appointment who can assist you in standing.

โ€‹

When imaging is completed, you are free to get dressed.

โ€‹

Kate may have further questions to ask after viewing the raw images.

โ€‹

This is also a good time to ask any questions you may have thought of while being imaged.

โ€‹

Your images are then assessed on the spot, and your report is generated and emailed to you instantly. No more waiting up to 14 days for processing!
